A transhumanist RPG that puts players onto a crowded space station, Freemarket runs on a unique reputation-based system that puts an emphasis on character interaction. The preconceived notions players develop from playing traditional RPGs can actually get in the way, but for the open-minded gamer, Freemarket is a treat. Couple that with a beautifully-designed boxed set stocked with cards and counters, and you’ve got one of the best RPGs of 2010. - MTV Geek

…and I lost.

Last month, while doing Google searches for FreeMarket (to check reviews, chatter, actual play reports, etc.) I came across a copy of the FreeMarket boxed set for sale on eBay. It was selling for a Buy It Now price of $9.99, which seemed odd. I told Luke. He thought it was weird too. I joked we should buy it and re-sell it for the real value.

Checked the eBay store again and noticed, no, not one game. Two. Same price, same seller. Weird.

InSpectres made this year’s holiday gift guide. Granted, InSpectres as a game is over eight years old but it’s still fresh and kicking. It’s actually the last RPG that I ran!

And of course, FreeMarket, while tragically missing from any and all gift guides, is available. And quite frankly, it’s the most ground-breaking and beautiful game of 2010…scratch that—the last decade. Strike that—ever.

And remember, free shipping within the US for Memento Mori Theatricks for orders $30 or more! Limited time only!

Sprinkles the FreeMarket Dustbunny will be at GenCon Booth #1732.

Please do not pet Sprinkles as his core temperature is 125.6° — but you can pick him up by his ears.

I hold her close to me, listening to her breathe as she sleeps. Moisture beads up on the window. Condensation from FreeMarket’s micro-weather system. Not every day is bright and sunny. It’s got to rain sometime. Outside, it’s dark but for the soft blue-white and amber glow of street lighting, the gentle hum of the train as it circles the hub, gliding in near-silence on magical rails of polarized electrons. Chiodo wants to see me, so I feel obliged to go. Not because I owe him or his MRCZ anything, but because it’s good to keep up relationships. His MRCZ has premium flow and lots of pull with the gene tinkers and the wetmen. The Blobbies ooze with flow. They’re a clan of deal brokers and fixers, perfectly secure within the bubble they called home. The bodyguard ushers me in and fixes me with a blank stare of polished chromium. His body is covered in a sleek black sealsuit, a personal gift from my MRCZ to the Blobbies. A show of friendship and good faith. (more…)
